2024 is upon us and we are open from the 2nd. February. We are both looking forward to the new season and can’t wait to see old friends and, indeed, new ones.

We were fortunate enough to be able to meet up with friends before and after Christmas. It was great to catch up with Karen in Caerphilly and Cardiff was an absolute blast but we realise we are a little long in the tooth to party like that but thanks Harry. Our trip back to Swindon in the new year was a bit of an eye opener, the town has gone down hill badly since our last visit. It was great to meet up with Sue and Phil for his 60th. birthday and I’m sure some of you will have seen the costumes Mrs. B&B created for the pirate themed party. The things we do! A big thank you to Roz and Mark for finding time in their busy schedule to meet up for drinks and letting us meet their new grandson Ollie. My word Laura he looks like you! It really was great to catch up with them, real friends.

We are now starting a quick programme of refreshing the décor in the guest rooms and then we will be up and running again. We did manage to get our own bedroom re-decorated, which resulted in a few brownie points, from Mrs. B&B, for me. We have also decided it is time to lose a bit of weight so, excepting visits by friends, we are embarking on a low fat diet. Mrs. B&B has already been trying some recipes and the results have been tasty healthy meals. I’m sure there will be some pictures soon.

The year ahead promises all the usual events, Looe 10k run, Looe Raft Race, Looe Music Weekender, Duloe Cider & Ale Festival, The Island Swim, Carnival Week, in particular the fancy dress 3 legged race and the newly introduced food festival. As always the boats will be running all kinds of trips and pasties, ice cream and of course the best fish and chips will be readily available. Book a meal in one of the many restaurants for wonderful seafood and much more. Take in some live music in The Fisherman’s Arms, The Bullers or The Ship Inn for a banging night. Come and join in the fun and stay with us at Schooner Point Guest House, the No.1 rated B&B in Looe, as voted by our guests on TripAdvisor. Don’t forget to book direct for best price.

Last time we asked who Douglas Trendle was better known as, of course it’s Buster Bloodvessel from Bad Manners. This time who were the four members of The Doors? I have mentioned that the T shirt slot would be coming to an end but NO! A few new T  shirts were gladly received at Christmas and also two new short sleeved shirts arrived and they are the business and will be  featured. Mrs.B&B has already put up pictures of these. So this time round I am wearing the iconic Back in Black AC/DC T shirt, what a great album it is.
